Richard C. Auchterlonie’s practice focuses on patent and IP litigation and prosecution matters involving complex electrical and computer technology.  His litigation practice is focused on fact and expert discovery, analysis, and expert witness preparation regarding prior art, infringement, validity, enforceability, and claim interpretation issues.

He is also engaged in counseling on related patent matters such as pre-litigation investigations, infringement and validity opinions, and prior art studies. Mr. Auchterlonie prepares and oversees the preparation of complex patent applications and is the inventor on five U.S. patents, including a patent on an Offset QPSK Demodulator and Receiver (U.S. Patent No. 4,501,002).  Mr. Auchterlonie has also drafted patent applications on cell phones and GPS.

Prior to receiving his law degree, Mr. Auchterlonie worked for GM Proving Ground doing computer programming and design of electronic instrumentation.  He also worked for Motorola in the Communications Division on mobile research, multiplexing, signaling, modulation, micro-processors, and later, in the Motorola patent department.
