Tracy Druce’s practice concentrates on counseling clients regarding intellectual property matters with a focus on the prosecution and strategic planning of intellectual property portfolios.

A significant portion of Mr. Druce’s practice involves counseling a major handheld communication device company regarding worldwide patent portfolio creation, management, and exploitation. This fast-paced industry requires Mr. Druce to possess a high degree of market awareness as well as an understanding of the patent claim agility necessary to capitalize on the fast-moving product life cycles of these devices and networks.

Mr. Druce also counsels both domestic and international clients in the areas of US patent practice inside and outside the Patent Office.  His clients include companies from the automotive and construction industries with particular attention to electronic control arrangements and implementation strategies. Mr. Druce advises these companies on the interplay of prosecution strategies including reexamination and reissue versus litigation and International Trade Commission proceedings.

Mr. Druce also maintains an active role in Novak Druce’s industry-leading reexamination practice, focusing on utilizing the reexamination process either in tandem with litigation or after a finding of infringement has been suffered. In this practice, Mr. Druce has helped clients save millions of dollars through settlements that have been struck both pre- and post-verdict for significantly reduced sums after patentability has been successfully questioned in the Patent Office.

In addition to his thriving legal practice, Mr. Druce launched the Novak Druce Centre for Professional Service Firms at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School in October 2009.
