Novak Druce + Quigg LLP speaks on patent reform and its potential impact on patent reexaminations
Austin, TX: On Friday, Novak Druce + Quigg LLP Executive Partner Tracy W. Druce spoke on patent reexaminations and patent reform during The Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal’s 11th Annual Intellectual Property Symposium at the Eidman Courtroom at The University of Texas School of Law.
Mr. Druce’s presentation, “Patent Reform and its Impact on Post-Grant Proceedings” discussed potential changes to patent reexamination proceedings that could result from the passage of the Patent Reform Act of 2009, which was introduced in March before Congress. In his presentation, Mr. Druce discussed expanded Central Reexamination Unit Directory authority, expanded types of reexamination patentability challenges, and modified estoppel provisions as some of the potential changes to reexamination proceedings. In addition to the presentation, Mr. Druce fielded numerous questions regarding patent reform’s potential effects on the use of reexaminations.
Mr. Druce, a native Texan, earned a BS in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University, a MBA from Texas Tech University and a JD from Texas Tech University School of Law. He operates out of Novak Druce’s Houston headquarters.
